HOW DOES MINIFARM WORK?

Vertical Farm technology exploits the ability of plants to grow naturally within a nutrient solution, receiving energy useful for photosynthesis starting with special LED lamps. In addition, the optimal climatic conditions and isolation from the external environment guarantee the absence of weeds, pathogens and insects.

• Ventilation: For harmonious growth, plants require to be grazed by a gentle breeze. For this reason our MINIFARM has been designed in such a way as to guarantee a constant flow of air that enters through special slots placed on the back of the base frame and on the rear wall. This recirculation of air also allows to obtain an excellent uniformity of the internal temperature.
• Temperature: Plant growth is influenced by temperature. Our MINIFARM has double walls which guarantee good insulation from the external climate. Where necessary, it can be equipped with an air conditioner or heater that will guarantee the best regulation of the internal temperature even in the face of very unfavorable external climates.
• Light: The growth of each variety requires a precise light spectrum that stimulates its growth. Our greenhouses are equipped with two types of lamps: type A is suitable for green leaf products, B has been chosen for fruit vegetables. The automated system allows you to manage the lighting times according to the photoperiod you want to achieve.

HOW CAN I USE MINIFARM?

Everyone can use our MINIFARM without any difficulty. You will receive a video tutorial with all the useful tips to make you plants grow easily. You can also contact us to request all the necessary clarification by e-mail, phone or chat.

The cultivation system is composed by two tanks:

• A tank for the collection and storage of the nutrient solution, containing the circulation pump
• Three cultivation tanks, on which the cultivation pots are laid

The pots will be distributed on the top edge of the upper tank, spacing them according to the size of the vegetables to be grown. Lids will be provided to close all the uncultivated area, so that light does not penetrate into the area where the roots develop.

There are two types of pots:

• The short pot: you can use it to grow a single plant (head of lettuce, basil, tomato) by putting a rockwool cube on the bottom of the pot (provided with the MINIFARM). Insert one seed into the small opening in each cube, soak the rockwool and then wait until the plant is ready to be harvested! You can also insert a seedling purchased in a garden centre. Simply remove soil residues from the roots and insert the seedling in your short pot.
• The long pot: you can use it to grow fresh-cut products such as baby leaves, sprouts and radish. Follow the same procedure for the small pots, insert the seeds in a row along the rockwool strip, soak it and wait.

The greenhouse will be managed by means of an automated system that will be delivered to you ready for operation. From your smartphone, you can view the settings and it will be possible to change the timing of the lights and pumps as well as the temperature adjustment.

HOW DO I INSTALL MINIFARM?

Easily. It is supplied to you already assembled. You will only need to plug it in like a normal appliance.

HOW BIG IS IT?

MINIFARM has been designed to be installed even in narrow environments such as a corridor, terrace or cellar. For the same reason, it is designed with double folding doors.
The measurement are: height 210 cm, width 86 cm and depth 45 cm.
You can put it wherever you have room: in your living-room, kitchen, garage, hall, cellar, on a terrace or in your courtyard.

WHICH KIND OF SEEDS CAN I USE?

You can use seeds that you normally purchase from your supplier.

CAN I USE SEEDLINGS PURCHASED IN A GARDEN CENTRE?

Yes, it’s possible. Simply remove soil residues from the roots and insert the seedling in your MINIFARM.

WHAT CAN I GROW WITH MINIFARM?

You can grow many plants. Space is your only limitation:

• Leafy vegetables like lettuce, chicory, lollo, endive, radicchio, rocket, kale and spinach
• Fresh-cut products like green and red baby leaf, wild rocket, spinacino, beetroot, pak choi, baby kale, tatsoi, mizuna, landcress etc...
• Micro leaf and sprout
• Herbs like basil, parsley, sage, thyme, coriander, lemon balm and dill
• Celery stalks and fennel
• Broccoli, turnip greens and radish
• Tomatoes, bell peppers, chili peppers
• Peas and beans
• Raspberry and strawberry
• Flower plants and bulbous flowers
• Onions and leeks
• Cucumbers
• Zucchini

HOW MANY VEGETABLES CAN I PRODUCE?

You can produce enough fresh vegetables for a family of four.

WHAT KIND OF MAINTENANCE DOES IT NEED?

The only maintenance generally required on your MINIFARM is to refill water and nutrients.
